Set the audible music or nature sounds to a comfortable, quiet listening level. You don't need to turn up the whole recording to make the affirmation layer understandable.
Set the volume for your equipment
Start low and adjust using the background you can hear. Headphones and speakers differ, so a percentage on one device isn't a precise sound level on another. Recheck when you change headphones, players or output devices.
Leave room to hear what you need to hear around you. If the environment is too noisy for comfortable playback, choose a quieter time instead of turning the recording up to compete.
For longer listening
Sound level and duration both affect hearing risk. Take breaks and use available volume-limiting or sound-exposure features. See the WHO safe-listening guidance for more detail.
If a recording produces pain, ringing or discomfort, stop playback. Seek professional advice for persistent symptoms.
For a mix you're making yourself
Your listening volume and the voice level inside a mix are different controls. In Studio, adjust the voice relative to the background while keeping your listening level comfortable. The masking guide explains that production setting.
For questions about equipment, see whether you need headphones.
